On a mission to get South Auckland to Move Well to Feel Well

We’re on a mission to get 10,000 South Aucklanders engaged in regular physical activity by June 30, 2026.

To do this, we’re calling on you, your whanau, your communities, your mahi, to join our movement and get fit, get active, and make it a normal and enjoyable part of your day.

Healthy Families South Auckland (HFSA) – The Cause Collective (TCC), People and Practice Lead, Nicola Dennison says creating this social movement will hopefully change mental models that start to shift the way people think and feel about being physically active.

“We know that physical activity and movement have direct implications on people’s health and is the most easily attainable prevention method available for us to tackle long term health conditions and we know over the years there has been a rise in health hindering products and services available in our communities.

“Move Well to Feel Well is our way of combatting the things that hold the problem in place by creating a shift in mental models to our communities who will feel inspired to start moving and continue to move so that it becomes a normal part of their day.”

Move Well to Feel Well is HFSA – TCCs’ commitment to getting our communities up, active and loving movement by providing them with toolkits, information and resources to kick start a social movement aiming to get South Auckland to work as a collective to stop the rise of preventable chronic disease.

“We know that our community is calling out for culturally sound, easy and accessible and affordable ways to get fit and active and we want to see a South Auckland that is active, fit and healthy, because when our body feels right, so does our mind.

“By making movement a regular part of our lives, we take an active role in preventing chronic illnesses that wreak havoc on our families and communities. We remove pressure from our healthcare system by taking a lead role in keeping ourselves strong, and we lead by example for our kids and families and have an impact on intergenerational health, instead of fixing the issues before it gets too late“.
