Fa’anānā Efeso Collins – community champion

When we consider community leadership in South Auckland, several names come to mind, representing mana, influence, and pride in where they live, learn, work and play.

One name that undoubtedly stands out is the late Fa’anānā Efeso Collins.

Known for his passionate advocacy, deep love for local people and relentless efforts to enhance the wellbeing of those living in Tāmaki Makaurau.

Fa’anānā was a founding member of the Healthy Families South Auckland Strategic Leadership Group (SLG). He ardently supported the Healthy Families South Auckland Kaupapa and tirelessly championed the communities in South Auckland.

He was a friend of many who worked in Healthy Families South Auckland, The Cause Collective, The Southern Initiative and Auckland Council.

A positive disruptor, he was brave, courageous, unapologetic, extremely intelligent and amplified the voice of community through his many compelling arguments.

Such was Efeso’s profound impact, his life touched many people beyond South Auckland, reaching communities across New Zealand and the Pacific.

Rest in Love, Fa’anānā.
