Julio is originally from Sao Paulo, Brazil. He has been in NZ for 30 years, after living in different countries he realised that Aotearoa New Zealand is where he felt most at home and could place his “mauri stone”.
Current role:
“I am a Lead Systems Designer. My main purpose is to enable people to understand how they can create positive change (social, economic and environmental). I believe in the power of common unity and have been working to connect individual wisdom towards the collective well-being.
Current projects:
“Focused on food systems, working on ways to support initiatives that can help alleviate food insecurity in our communities, nurturing alternative models (community-led, collective and co-operative) to create a viable and thriving local food economy.”
What is your vision for health and wellbeing in South Auckland?
“Where whanau enjoy food security, which means all people, at all times, have physical, social and economic access to sufficient, safe and nutritious food which meets their dietary needs and food preferences for an active and healthy life.”
